This policy explains how The Ritz Plaza LLC, a South Dakota limited liability company doing business as The IOn Project ("we", "us"), handles information in connection with the IOn Reclaim Android app (package com.ionproject.reclaim), which helps people quit or cut down on nicotine. It applies to the app only. Our website has its own privacy policy.

Unless you use cloud backup or the AI coach as described below, the following is stored only on your phone, in the app's private storage. We cannot see it.
The app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup for this data. If you export your data as a CSV, PDF or JSON file, the file goes wherever you choose to share it.
Notifications: reminders are generated on your phone. Some include your name, your day count or how many cravings you resisted, and health milestone notifications can appear on your lock screen. If you do not want others to see them, change the app's notification settings in Android.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos or files, and it contains no advertising SDK.
The AI coach is powered by Google's Gemini API. When you send a message, the app sends the information listed in section 4 directly to Google over an encrypted connection. It does not send your email address or account ID. Google processes these requests under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service. Depending on how our access to the service is configured, Google may keep the content of requests for a period and may use it to improve its services, and human reviewers may read it. Google's terms describe exactly when that applies.
Because of this, please do not include information in the coach that you want kept private, such as your full name, contact details, or details about other people or your medical history. The coach's replies are generated by AI, can be wrong, and are not medical advice. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or, in the US, call or text 988.
Your conversations are also saved on your phone so you can reopen them. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes them.
During setup, the app offers a toggle for usage analytics. Turning it off stops the app's own usage events. It does not stop Firebase's automatic measurement (such as app opens and the app instance ID) or crash reporting, which help us keep the app working. A few sign-in events can be sent before you reach that toggle.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not share your information with data brokers or advertisers. We share information only with the service providers named in this policy, to run the app:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Information about your nicotine use, cravings and mood may be considered health information. We use it only to provide the app's features to you. It stays on your phone unless you choose to back it up, and the only health-related details sent to the AI coach are what you type and your quit day count. We do not use health information for advertising and do not sell or share it with data brokers.
You can withdraw at any time by not using a feature, turning off analytics in setup, or deleting your data as described in section 11.
Crash reports and usage analytics linked to your user ID are deleted on request as far as Google's tools allow. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
IOn Reclaim is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app does not ask for your age. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Information sent between the app and Google is encrypted in transit, and data in Firestore is encrypted at rest by Google. Cloud backups are not additionally encrypted by the app itself. On your phone, data is kept in the app's private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what leaves your phone to the minimum the features need.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Google transfers data under its own legal safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will also tell you in the app or on the Google Play listing before it takes effect.
