This policy explains how The Ritz Plaza LLC, a South Dakota limited liability company doing business as The IOn Project ("we", "us"), handles information in connection with the IOn Sleep Android app (package com.theritzplaza.ionsleep). It applies to the app only. Our website has its own privacy policy.

We are the data controller for the personal information described here. For privacy questions and requests, email privacy@theionproject.com.
The following is created and stored only on your phone. We cannot see it.
The app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup, so this data is not copied to your Google Drive backup. If you use the CSV export (a Premium feature), the file you create contains your session dates, times and durations, and goes wherever you choose to share it.
| Information | When | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google account details: name, email address, profile photo link, and a Firebase user ID | Only if you sign in with Google | To create your account, show who is signed in, and manage your free trial and subscription status | Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore |
| Account record: the details above, your free trial start and end dates, subscription status fields, account creation date, and a copy of the app's default settings | Only if you sign in | To apply your trial and Premium access | Google Cloud Firestore |
| Advertising data: your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads | When ads are shown (guests and free users) | To show ads that fund the free version, including personalized ads unless you opt out in Android settings | Google AdMob (see section 5) |
| Crash reports: stack traces, device model, Android version, app version and a crash-reporting installation ID | When the app crashes | To find and fix bugs | Google Firebase Crashlytics |
| App usage analytics: events such as app opens and session length, onboarding steps, sounds played, alarm times set, rating prompts, purchase attempts and results, and promo codes entered, together with an app instance ID and the advertising ID | While you use the app | To understand which features are used and to fix problems | Google Analytics for Firebase |
| Purchase status: which subscription you hold, whether it is active, and a purchase token | When you subscribe or the app checks your subscription | To unlock Premium | Google Play. We never receive your card or payment details. |
| ZIP code (US only) | When you use weather themes (Premium) | To look up current weather for your area. The app sends only the ZIP code, not your GPS location. | OpenWeather (OpenWeatherMap) |
| Feedback emails: your email address, your message, and the device model, Android version and app version that the app adds to the draft | Only if you send us feedback from the app | To answer you | Our email provider |
The app does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos or files.
If you use IOn Sleep as a guest or on the free version, the app shows banner ads and, at most about once every 8 hours, a full-screen ad. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To choose and measure ads, Google collects your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interactions, and may use them to personalize ads. On supported devices, Google may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox advertising features (such as Topics and attribution reporting), which the app's ads library declares. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy and explains its ad practices at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
You can limit this at any time: on most Android phones, go to Settings, Privacy (or Google), Ads to delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalization. Subscribers and people in an active free trial do not see ads.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers. We share information only with the service providers named in this policy, to run the app:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Crash reports and usage analytics are linked to installation and app instance IDs, not to your name. If you want them removed, email us and we will help as far as Google's tools allow. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
IOn Sleep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app does not ask for your age. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Information sent between the app and Google or OpenWeather is encrypted in transit. Account records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and protected by Google's infrastructure security. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the data we hold small: your sleep data never leaves your phone.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Google transfers data under its own legal safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will also tell you in the app or on the Google Play listing before it takes effect.
